ONLY THOSE DRIVERS WHO HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED A DVLA LICENCE CHECK, PRODUCED A VALID DRIVING LICENCE AND WHO ARE SUBSEQUENTLY NAMED ON THE HIRE AGREEMENT MAY DRIVE THE VEHICLE.  ANYONE WHO HAS NOT BEEN AUTHORISED BY US IN THIS WAY IS NOT INSURED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND, IN THE EVENT OF DAMAGE OR AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING A NON-AUTHORISED DRIVER, THE HIRER WILL BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL RELATED COSTS.

Drivers must be aged between 25 and 75 years of age. We can cover drivers aged 23 and 24 who hold a clean licence, subject to an increased insurance excess – please contact us for details.

You do not need a special licence to drive any of our vehicles provided you meet the requirements on this page. Drivers must have held a full UK Driving Licence for over two years and BOTH PARTS of your licence must be presented at the time of hire – see note below regarding new online licence check procedure effective from 8/6/15.
Drivers may have a maximum of 6 points on their licence for offences such as SP30 (exceeding statutory speed limit) or CU80 (mobile phone). More points or convictions for more serious offences WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS need to be referred to our insurers and, therefore, must be notified in advance. Failure to notify us may result in us being unable to hire to you and your hire fee being non-refundable.

WE CANNOT HIRE TO YOU IF YOU HAVE HAD A DRINK DRIVING OFFENCE OR A DISQUALIFICATION IN THE PRECEEDING FIVE YEARS!  WE ALSO CANNOT HIRE TO YOU IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PRESENT YOUR LICENCE AT THE TIME OF HIRE AND NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN IN THIS EVENT.

Fully Comprehensive Insurance (with the exception of the Insurance Excess, currently £750, or other amount as imposed by the insurance company dependent on individual circumstances) is included in the price of hire. No discount will be given for Drivers Own Insurance.
Damage to either our vehicle or to third party vehicle or property must be reported to us on return of the hire vehicle. Failure to report this may result in the insurance being nullified and you being held responsible for all damages. In the event of damages, your £200 deposit will be forfeit and the full Insurance Excess (as shown on the Hire Agreement) will be charged to the credit or debit card details given at the time of hire. Once full costs are known, any overpayment will be refunded. Damages include scratches, dents, window/glass breakages/chips, punctures/tyre damage and damage to the interior of the vehicle and any and all damage to third party property.

PLEASE NOTE damage to or from OVERHEAD objects (i.e. anything above cab height on the hire vehicle and ANY damage to bridges, barriers and the like) is classed as the hirer’s responsibility ENTIRELY and IS NOT COVERED BY THE INSURANCE!

In the event of an accident, however minor it may seem, please notify us immediately and record as many details as possible. Failure to do this may nullify your insurance.

CONGESTION CHARGES/CLEAN AIR ZONES/ROAD TOLLS/PARKING FINES ETC.

 AS PER OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS, ANY AND ALL FINES, COURT COSTS, AND OTHER FEES RELATING TO PARKING, TRAFFIC OR OTHER OFFENCES INCURRED DURING THE HIRE PERIOD ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HIRER.

 IT IS THE CUSTOMER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK IF THE VEHICLE IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO ANY OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED CHARGES. IN THE EVENT  OF A CONTRAVENTION OR PENALTY CHARGE NOTICE, IT IS OUR LEGAL DUTY TO PROVIDE YOUR FULL DETAILS TO THE RELEVANT AUTHORITY WHO WILL THEN CONTACT YOU TO ARRANGE PAYMENT.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ANY BRIDGE FEES , TOLL FEES, ZONE FEES OR PARKING FEES ARE PAID WITHIN THE REQUIRED TIMEFRAME IN ORDER TO PREVENT ADDITIONAL FEES BEING CHARGEABLE TO YOU, THE CUSTOMER.

All of our vehicles use DIESEL FUEL and should be returned with at least the same level of fuel as  as recorded on the Hire Agreement on collection. Low fuel on return will be charged to the card details held and will be charged at the rate of £40 per 1/4 tank with a minimum charge of £20. PLEASE NOTE IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE RED DIESEL AND ANYONE FOUND TO HAVE DONE SO WILL BE REPORTED AND MAY BE PROSECUTED. IN THE EVENT OF THE INCORRECT FUEL TYPE BEING PUT IN THE VEHICLE THE HIRER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL RELATED COSTS INCLUDING FUEL DRAINING, REFUELLING AND POTENTIALLY A NEW ENGINE.  IN THIS EVENT DO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT WILL DAMAGE THE ENGINE!

The vehicle should be returned in a clean condition inside and out (allowing for usual road dirt). Vehicles returned excessively dirty inside or out will be charged a cleaning fee at our discretion.

Vehicles should only be used within a 100 mile radius of our office. However we allow you 300 free miles distance with a day’s hire (with the exception of our lutons which have a 200 mile limit) or 750 (500 for lutons) free miles with a weekend hire. Additional miles are chargeable at 30 pence per mile (eg 100 miles amounts to an additional £30).  Card details are retained until the completion of the hire and will be used to charge any additional sums which become due.

You will be asked to provide a destination when collecting the van – any deviation form this, without prior reference to us, breaks the contract, will result in loss of deposit and you will be responsible for any resulting charges.

Payment is required at the time of booking. Cancellation charges equal to the full cost of the booked hire apply unless a minimum of 7 days notice in writing is given. A telephone booking is considered a verbal contract for the hire. Card details will be retained until the completion of the hire and any additional charges due will be applied.

Out of hours returns – Vans returned between 7pm and 7am will incur a £25 “out of hours” fee – no exceptions. Vans may be returned outside of office hours (i.e. between 5.30pm and 7pm and between 7am and 9am by prior arrangement only and we may charge a fee for this.

SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED IN ANY OF OUR VEHICLES – IT IS AGAINST THE LAW!

PLEASE NOTE –  IT IS NOW NECESSARY TO CHECK LICENCES ONLINE PRIOR TO HIRING. THIS CHECK REPLACES THE PAPER COUNTERPART LICENCE AND IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT. IN ORDER TO DO THIS YOU, THE CUSTOMER, ARE REQUIRED TO GO ONLINE TO DVLA.GOV.UK AND OBTAIN A CHECK CODE WHICH NEEDS TO BE PASSED TO US, ALONG WITH YOUR LICENCE NUMBER, TO ENABLE US TO GO ONLINE AND CHECK YOUR LICENCE FOR ANY PENALTY POINTS/CONVICTIONS.  WE RECOMMEND DOING THIS A COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR TO THE HIRE DATE AND ON A WEEK DAY IN CASE THERE ARE ANY ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE REFERRED TO EITHER DVLA OR OUR INSURERS. FAILURE TO DO THIS COULD MEAN WE ARE UNABLE TO HIRE TO YOU AND, IN THIS INSTANCE, YOUR HIRE FEE WOULD BE NON-REFUNDABLE. THANK YOU
